Behavioral Analyst Regulation

Aversive therapy involves the introduction of an unpleasant consequence in order to reduce inappropriate behavior. While such interventions are ordinarilty not permitted in facilities operated, licensed or funded by the Commonwealth, there are cases in which it may be necessary to consider such procedures in treating agresion, self-injury or other behaviors which poses a reisk of serious harm to a client or another person.

Two bills address the use of aversive therapy by defining a  Behavioral Analyst Level 4 treatment model and establishing a Special Commisson for creating standards and regulations.
