As you may know, we are holding community meetings for disability commissions, members, and others looking to discuss advocacy.  Upcoming meetings will be in Falmouth, Wilmington, and Middleborough. Details are below.  Bring a friend!!

As the 20th Anniversary of the ADA quickly approaches, DPC would like to post all celebrations on our website.  Please email me as soon as possible with any events you know of.

Alan has had more than 30 years of executive leadership, program planning and development and legislative advocacy for organizations that provide support to people with disabilities.  Until recently, Alan was the Executive Director of the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities ("CADD Council"), in Sacramento, California, an independent state agency established under federal and state law, and designed to promote a consumer and family-based system of services and supports.  As Executive Director of the CADD Council, Alan managed and oversaw a staff of 110 employees and a $14 million budget, which included both federal and state funds. 

The Board and Staff are excited to welcome Alan aboard as the new DLC Executive Director.

Employment Now Coalition Meeting

ENC meeting will be held on Friday, June 4th at 1pm:

We will be joined by Ron Marlow, Assistant Secretary for Access and Opportunity and Paul Dietl, Chief of Human Resources, probably along with Sandra Borders, Stan Eichner, and Myra Berloff - to discuss the progress of the Model Employer initiative.

They will be addressing us on items surrounding the initiative such as how many people with disabilities are represented in the executive branch, to what extent has the funding pool for reasonable accommodations been tapped, how many people with disabilities have been hired or identified as retained through Model Employer and the status of internship programs targeting youth with disabilities.
Model Employer is a critical program that came to fruition in part through the efforts of the Employment Now Coalition. We look forward to seeing you on June 4th.
