Change in Leadership at the Disability Policy Consortium
On Tuesday, August 17, 2010, Chris Palames submitted his resignation as President of the Board of Directors at the Disability Policy Consortium (DPC). Chris was elected President in December 2009. DPC's Board and Staff want to acknowledge him for his time and dedication to the DPC during his tenure.
The DPC is delighted to announce that John Pirone, who was serving as Vice President, has assumed the role of President, effective immediately. John says: "I am humbly honored and delighted to be asked to take the role of Presidency. I have been with the DPC as a Board member since 2006 and I am so impressed with the DPC's work and its leadership. DPC is a strong, viable, and fast-growing organization and it has successfully shaped many public policies that affect the disability community. As a President, I will make sure that we continue our fight till everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in the political, economic, and social mainstream of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We want and need you to join us to make our vision a reality. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you on an important mission."
John currently is a faculty member of Holy Cross and Emerson College. Prior to this, he was the coordinator of Deaf services at Northeastern University for two years and the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization, Massachusetts State Association of the Deaf, for four years. John serves on several boards of other organizations/agencies including the Statewide Advisory Council of Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and The Learning Center for the Deaf.
John is currently a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) candidate at Northeastern University. John attended Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in the School Business and Communication. He has also earned a Masters in Business Administration from University of Phoenix.
The DPC leadership (Board and Staff) remain strong and are committed to making DPC an even stronger, sound, and viable organization!
