Wheelchair Repair Legislative Briefing

March 12 | 12:00pm–2:00pm
Massachusetts State House, Hearing Room B1
Hybrid Event

Join the Disability Policy Consortium and wheelchair users from across Massachusetts for a Legislative Briefing on the Wheelchair Repair Reform bills, H.4358 and S.2662.

This briefing comes at a critical point in the legislative session. March is often when decisions are made about which bills move forward and which lose momentum. H.4358 has remained in House Ways and Means since August, and this moment is an opportunity to ensure wheelchair repair reform remains a priority.

The briefing will focus on:

• The current status of H.4358 and S.2662
• What the proposed reforms would change in the repair system
• The real-world impact of delayed wheelchair repairs on independence, employment, education, and health

Unlike a formal hearing, a legislative briefing allows space for conversation and questions. Legislators and staff will have the opportunity to hear directly from wheelchair users about how repair delays affect daily life across the Commonwealth.

We strongly encourage in-person attendance for those who are able. Physical presence at the State House makes the issue visible in a way that written testimony alone cannot. At the same time, accessibility matters. A virtual option will be available for those who cannot attend in person.
